As Vice President at dovetail, Lauren’s focus is on helping her clients elevate their messaging, presence and advocacy to new heights. Her unique background of public relations, public affairs and community service is an ideal fit for the dovetail mission – discovering connections and telling stories that both resonate and are remembered. Lauren doesn’t stop at maximizing existing opportunities, she creates new ones as well.
Born and raised in rural Texas, Lauren brings nearly 20 years of experience in communications, issues advocacy and political relations. Speaking of, did we mention that she’s in politics herself? In addition to her role at dovetail, Lauren proudly serves as Mayor of Arvada – Colorado’s seventh largest city! Prior to her election as mayor in 2023, she served four years on the Arvada City Council. Needless to say, her service takes her lots of places and helps her to better understand a wide range of issues. Careful when asking her thoughts on policy though… you might be there a while!
Lauren’s commitment to community extends well beyond Monday night hearings at Arvada City Council. She is involved with numerous organizations, including the Arvada Jefferson Kiwanis Club, Arvada Center for the Arts & Humanities and the non-profit, A Precious Child. She serves on the Boards of Directors for the Arvada Urban Renewal Authority, Mile High Flood District and the Arvada Visitor’s Center as well as acts as the City of Arvada’s representative to the Denver Metro Mayors Caucus. Recently, she had the honor of being selected to the 8th class of the Bloomberg Harvard Cities Leadership Initiative, a prestigious year-long program for 40 global mayors through Bloomberg Philanthropies and Harvard University dedicated to providing elite executive training for municipal leaders.
Lauren earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honors at Baylor University and then a master’s degree in international relations from Catholic University. She began her career in Washington, D.C. with internships at the U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Relations Committee and the United Nations before she advanced in roles spanning the non-profit, corporate and governmental sectors. Today, she and her husband, Steven, are the proud parents of an amazing daughter, Tabitha, as well as their three “fur” children: dog, Zoe, and cats, Amber and Marble.
Lauren unapologetically loves Starbucks and Taylor Swift, and lives by the mantra: Never be your own “No.”
