In 2012, dovetail solutions client McWhinney joined a partnership for the $54 million redevelopment of Denver Union Station, part of a revitalization of Denver’s Lower Downtown Historic District (LoDo). dovetail solutions was tasked to garner awareness around the project within the context of the involved partnerships, simultaneously highlighting McWhinney’s role. Another challenge was striking a balance between keeping the press informed of public components while maintaining confidentiality for sensitive components.
A need existed to distinguish public- and media-facing elements for coverage deadlines: the opening of the Great Hall, Crawford Hotel, restaurants and retail tenants, and the opening of the transportation hub nearly two months prior, communicating the distinction between the Great Hall Gala and the community grand opening.
dovetail solutions streamlined the process for announcements, media requests and community initiatives in the final stages of the project, emphasizing the inclusion and distribution of information to every partner. These efforts were rooted in a high-level plan spearheaded by dovetail solutions with two objectives: ensuring proper positioning of the project and its media reveal. dovetail solutions organized a media roundtable, delineating each partner’s role, planning interviews and tours with media and public officials, directing McWhinney leadership to reinforce the project’s progress, significance, and the Union Station Alliance partnership.
dovetail solutions efforts generated 21 articles. McWhinney was recognized as a ColoradoBiz Top Company Award finalist, reflecting the expansion of its brand reputation and presence.
“dovetail solutions is a trusted partner. What sets them apart is their community relationships, including media, business leaders and government officials,” said Chad McWhinney, CEO, McWhinney. “For our work on co-development of the historic Denver Union Station, dovetail has ensured we are maximizing our brand on both a local and national scale.”
